June, 2006: An effort to gain some University funding for the GIS effort, led by Chris Simpson, was successful. There is now $3400 of funding from a Curriculum Development Award to support the development of a 200 level Geospatial Literacy General Education course, development of interdisciplinary curriculum topic areas including Data Visualization, Democracy and GIS, and Environmental Science and GIS, publishing and promotion of the recent developments with GIS at AU, and a small conference about GIS in the curriculum to be hosted at AU. Congratulations to all involved!
